Are you looking to improve your smile?

Here at GDC Melbourne GlenHuntly, we are experts at porcelain veneer treatments.

Veneers are a cosmetic treatment for front teeth that may be heavily filled, discoloured, damaged, dark, crowded or “gappy” teeth.

A veneer is a thin porcelain covering used to improve the colour and shape of your teeth. Veneers often require very little adjustment to your own teeth providing they are healthy. Veneers can be matched exactly to the colour of your own teeth.

Once veneers bonded correctly to teeth, they are extremely strong and look very natural, and will never separate. Porcelain veneers can also be used to give the appearance of instant Orthodontic straightening, without the requirement of braces.

It usually takes several appointments to complete the transformation. The result is an enhanced smile, which blends in perfectly with your lips and gums.

Here are the steps we guide you through

  1. The first stage is analysis and evaluation which uses a combination of X-Rays, visual examinations, photography, bite analysis and phonetic speech testing. This ensures that we determine the correct treatment plan for each individual client.
  2. Using the latest in dental technology, we then create a “mock-up”, which helps us plan your treatment and also allows to you see what results are achievable.
  3. We then take impressions from your teeth to create your new porcelain veneers. These are constructed to a high standard of quality and are ready within two to three weeks.
  4. In the final appointment the veneers are bonded to your teeth and your new smile is complete

There are two types of veneers that are used by our dentists: Porcelain and Composite.

Porcelain Veneers

  • This substance is highly favored for creating veneers because of its strength and durability
  • If porcelain veneers are well looked after with professional care and regular maintenance they could last for up to 25 years
  • Another advantage of having porcelain veneers is its ability to reflect light and match surrounding natural teeth

Composite Veneers

  • Composite veneers can be built up directly in your mouth, with the veneers able to be bonded and moulded to the front of your teeth in a single dentist visit
  • This type of veneer can offer an equal standard of improvement to appearance like that of porcelain
  • Veneers of composite material tend to be cheaper than porcelain though as they are less durable and may be in need of replacement more often
